  15. 1. Saving the Configuration File
  16. --------------------------------
  17. It is recommended that you save the configuration file in the same 
  18. directory where PQLAUNCH.EXE is located. If, however, you decide to 
  19. save the configuration file elsewhere, you will need to manually 
  20. edit the .INI file so that it includes the full path to each 
  21. respective program. You will also need to manually edit the resulting 
  22. .BAT file so that it includes the full path to each program and 
  23. includes the full path to the launcher program (PQLAUNCH.EXE) and the 
  24. configuration file (*.INI).

  27. 2. File Paths to Products in the Interface
  28. ------------------------------------------
  29. In Recovery Central, when you specify the products you want to add 
  30. to the interface, you must enter the full path and name of the batch 
  31. file (.BAT) that will launch the product when a user clicks the 
  32. respective button, or you must enter the full path and name of the 
  33. DOS-based program (.EXE) and any command line switches you want to use 
  34. when the program is started.

  36. If the full path to the product contains any spaces between words or 
  37. contains more than eight characters in a folder name or filename 
  38. (for example, D:\Program Files\SecondChance\Crestore.exe), you must 
  39. enclose the full path in quotes (for example, ôD:\Program Files\
  40. SecondChance\Crestore.exeö).  If the full path is not enclosed in 
  41. quotes, the product will not launch when a user clicks the product 
  42. button on the recovery CD interface.

  45. 3. File Paths to .PCX Images
  46. ------------------------------
  47. If the full path to a .PCX image used on the recovery CD interface 
  48. contains any spaces between words or contains more than eight 
  49. characters in a folder name or filename (for example, D:\Art Images\
  50. corporatelogo.pcx), the image will not be displayed on the recovery 
  51. CD interface.  To ensure that the image appears on the interface, you 
  52. must use the DOS 8.3 file naming convention and avoid spaces between 
  53. words.

  56. 4. Recovery CD File List
  57. ------------------------
  58. Listed below are the files you will add to the actual recovery CD media 
  59. when it is created.

  61. - PQLAUNCH.EXE
  62. - PQLOGO.PCX
  63. - .PCX logo for OEM company
  64. - MOUSE.COM
  65. - *.BAT that is automatically created by Recovery Central
  66. - *.INI that you create and save in Recovery Central

  68. Important: When an end user launches their recovery CD, be aware that 
  69. HIMEM.SYS must first be loaded from a CONFIG.SYS file.  Depending on 
  70. your specific needs, the CONFIG.SYS file can be run from a bootable 
  71. floppy or from the recovery CD itself.

  74. 5. Miscellaneous Issues
  75. -----------------------
  76. -PowerQuest Recovery Central currently does not support double-byte 
  77.  characters.
  78.  
  79. -If you are running Windows 95 or Windows NT, the horizontal and 
  80.  vertical scrolls bars in Recovery Central may remain visible, even 
  81.  if the Recovery Central window is maximized. In such cases, you may 
  82.  need to change your font setting in Windows Display Properties , 
  83.  (Advanced) to Small Fonts.  Doing so will ensure that the scroll 
  84.  bars are hidden when the Recovery Central window is maximized.
